history

The place, laid out as an anger village, was first mentioned in 1194, when Bishop Isfried von Ratzeburg divided the income from the diocese between himself and the cathedral chapter. In the records the place is still called "Thescowe". However, it is believed that the origins of the place are much further back and emerged from a Slavic settlement. In the meal order for the canons of October 13, 1301, a pension payment of 12 Mk fish from "Sclavikalis Tessecowe" is mentioned, which also indicates the Slavic history of the place. It is believed, however, that the original location was closer to the water.

At the entrance of the village on the Kapenberg a destroyed should megalithic grave are "Hogen standing".

For many centuries, Teschow belonged to the Ratzeburg Land or Principality of Ratzeburg and the Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz .

At the time of the border between GDR and FRG , Teschow could only be reached with a special pass. A few kilometers from the site there was a separate checkpoint behind the Sülsdorf exit.

Teschow was an independent municipality until June 30, 1950 and was incorporated into Selmsdorf on July 1, 1950.

In 2019 the place celebrated its 825th anniversary.
