Tessie O'Shea

Tessie O'Shea (born March 13, 1913 in Cardiff , Wales , United Kingdom as Teresa O'Shea , † April 21, 1995 in Leesburg , Florida , United States ) was a Welsh actress and singer .

Live and act

O'Shea began singing and dancing as a child and performed in various theaters across the UK . During the Second World War , she appeared in front of British soldiers at the front as part of the troop support for the Entertainments National Service Association (ENSA). From the 1950s she could be seen in various series and shows such as The Merv Griffin Show , The Mike Douglas Show or The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson .

In the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s, O'Shea was a stage actor in several productions on Broadway and received the 1963 Tony Award for the role of Ada Cockle in The Girl Who Came to Supper . She was also recognized for her role in The Story of Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde nominated for an Emmy for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama .

Her nickname was Two-Ton Tessie .

She died of heart failure on April 21, 1995 .
