Tetsujirō Obara

Tetsujirō Obara ( Japanese 小 原 哲 次郎 , Obara Tetsujirō ; * 1941 in Fukushima Prefecture ) is a Japanese jazz musician ( drums ).

Tetsujirō Obara worked from the early 1970s a. a. with the singer Kimiko Kasai , with whom the first recordings were made ( Just Friends ), also in the groups of Isao Suzuki , Kunihiko Sugano , Isoo Fukui , Kenji Mori , Masaru Imada / ( Green Caterpillar ) and Tsuyoshi Yamamoto . In 1977 he played in the trio of guitarist Barney Kessel (with Kunimitsu Inaba ) and also took part in his session with Junko Mine ( A Tribute to the Great Hollywood Stars ). He performed with Tsuyoshi Yamamoto at the 1979 Montreux Jazz Festival . In the field of jazz he was involved in 35 recording sessions from 1970, including a. also with the singers Abbey Lincoln ( Live in Misty , 1973), Shigeko Toya ( Fine and Mellow , 1973), Mari Nakamoto , Ayako Hosokawa and Ann Burton ( He's Funny That Way , 1977), in the 1980s still with Harumi Kaneko , Salena Jones . In the 1990s he still played in the trio of pianist Kyoko Seki (with bassist Glenn Richman).
