The Teufelsbach , also called Ostfeldgraben and Freisker Bach , is a tributary of the Rhynerschen Bach . Most of the stream flows in the urban area of Hamm .

description

The Teufelsbach rises near Osterbönen near the intersection Am Heukamp / Opsener Straße (K43) . After about three hundred meters the stream flows through the 400 m long Devil's Gorge. The mouth is located about 300 meters north of Wilhelm-Lange-Straße in the Hamm-Pelkum district . The brook flows northwards for almost the entire course, before flowing into the Rhynerschen Bach after about four kilometers .

On the morning of April 9, 1945 , the 379th regiment followed along the Teufelsbach when marching into Hamm from Altenbögge-Bönen . At the time, this was in a wooded area.

For the "ecological upgrading of the Teufelsbach and thus the creation of a natural habitat as well as the structuring and revitalization of the landscape", the Hamm-Süd landscape plan (stipulations in accordance with §§ 24 to 26 LG NRW) provides for a section of a maximum length of 450 meters and 20 Meters in width, "between the A2 motorway and an unnamed farm road", to be expanded close to nature. For flood protection, it is planned to create three replacement floodplains in the lower reaches between K35n (Teufelsbach crossing) and BAB 2 to unleash the waterways . In addition, the course of the stream north of the motorway will be changed to such an extent that in future the Teufelsbach will no longer directly reach the Rhynerscher Bach, but instead flows into the Niedervöhdebach (tributary of the Rhynerscher Bach).

Tributaries

The Teufelsbach has four major tributaries. The sources of the right tributaries, each about one kilometer long, are located at Renninghof in the Hammer district of Freiske . Both join at about three kilometers with the Teufelsbach. The left, about one kilometer long tributary flows into about kilometer two. The source is on the Niederfeld in the Niedervöhdes - where after about three hundred meters there is a three hundred meter long connection to the Niedervöhdebach.
