Théodore Alexis Joseph de Montpellier (born May 24, 1807 in Vedrin near Namur ; † August 24, 1879 ) was a Belgian clergyman and from 1852 to 1879 Roman Catholic Bishop of Liège .

Life

Théodore de Montpellier received on September 7, 1833 sacrament of Holy Orders .

Pope Pius IX appointed him on September 27, 1852 Bishop of Liège . The Archbishop of Mechelen , Cardinal Engelbert Sterckx , donated him episcopal ordination on November 7th of the same year . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Namur , Nicolas-Joseph Dehesselle , and the Bishop of Bruges , Jean-Baptist Malou .

He took part in the First Vatican Council as a council father.
