chronology
Life on the Murder Scene The Black Parade The Black Parade Is Dead!

The Black Parade (in German: The Black Parade ) is the third album by the US band My Chemical Romance . It was released during October 2006 . Like its two predecessors, it is a concept album , this time about a cancerous man named The Patient , who has about two weeks to live and who thinks back to his life. The album was sold well over 300,000 times worldwide in the first week. The title "The Black Parade" comes from the old belief that the strongest memory is evoked shortly before death. Gerard Way said in an interview that the biggest influence on the album was Queen . He also said that Queen's " A Night at the Opera, " Pink Floyd's " The Wall, " and The Beatles ' " Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band " were the albums that had the most impact on the album.

The patient

The Patient is the character of the album. He has no friends and few family. In the song Dead! he learns that a complication has been found in his heart (“they found a complication in your heart”) and that he only has two weeks to live (“maybe just two weeks to live”) and is now thinking about his life . According to other interpretations, he suffers from cancer Cancer . This Is How I Disappear states that he had a love after all , according to The Sharpest Lives he had alcohol and drug problems , while in Welcome To The Black Parade he remembers watching a marching band with his father as a child (“when I was a young boy, my father took me into the city, to see a marching band "). I Don't Love You speaks very negatively of the same subject as "This Is How I Disappear". In House of Wolves the patient speaks of his fear of going to hell , Cancer (in German: cancer ) speaks of regret and Mama speaks of his military experience in the form of a letter he writes to his mother (“I'm writing this Letter and wishing you well, Mama, we all go to hell "). In Sleep , The Patient begins to admit his mistakes, Teenagers talks about today's youth who scare the patient (“Teenagers scare the living shit out of me”), Disenchanted again from thinking about wasted life (“A lifelong wait for a hospital stay ”) and in Famous Last Words he feels hope again (“ I am not afraid to keep on living ”). A real end is not made clear, it is even possible that the patient is not sick, but a loved one. Gerard Way, the lead singer, even dyed his hair white (-blonde) to better identify himself with The Patient and so bring more feeling into the songs.

The fourteenth - and thus the last song on the album - is an unnamed song. After 1:30 minutes the hidden track starts ( Blood ).

Of course, not all songs can be classified in a fixed plot scheme, rather they are only loosely or ideally connected to one another.
