The Dark Side of the Moon from the year 1990 is a sci-fi - horror film of the director D.J. Webster . In Germany the film was marketed on VHS from August 30, 1990 .
action
In 2022 is the spaceship Space Core 1 on a routine mission with nuclear -tipped satellites to maintain. When Captain Flynn and his deputy Giles Stewart want to locate the next satellite, all on-board systems fail. The emergency system, which starts immediately, can only keep the crew alive for 24 hours. The Spacecore 1 steers without drive towards the unexplored, dark part of the moon , also called Centrus B 40 in the film . However, the on-board computer determines that all systems are working properly. After the crew examined the ship by hand and no error is found, Alex McInny looks at an ancient common drinking tea through the porthole of the space shuttle to the Space Core 1 heading. The space shuttle initiating docking measures does not respond to radio calls.
While exploring the apparently unmanned shuttle, Flynn and Giles discover NASA uniforms and recover the dead Michael C. Gotier, who has a triangular wound in his stomach. When the on-board computer is asked about the origin of the shuttle, the crew learns that it is the Discovery-18 , allegedly lost in the Bermuda Triangle in 1992 . With the help of the on-board computer, Giles finally finds out that the Spacecore 1 lies exactly on the connecting line between the Bermuda Triangle and Centrus B 40 , and is the 666th ship that has been lost in the Bermuda Triangle or its extension into space.
Meanwhile, Gotier's corpse in the infirmary comes back to life and attacks Alex, who is found unconscious by the rushing crew and strapped onto a bed.
Subsequently, attempts are made to recover spare parts for the damaged Spacecore 1 from the space shuttle and to use the satellite to make an emergency call. However, the crew is gradually decimated until only Giles is still alive, who finally has the Spacecore 1 destroyed with a nuclear missile .
The film ends with a Mayday call from the spaceship Tiberius , which is helplessly heading for Centrus B 40 .
criticism
“The film is technically adept and told so imaginatively that one likes to ignore the clear 'borrowings' from ' Alien ' or ' Lifeforce '. Conclusion: Made extremely creative for a B-film shocker. "
“A trivial space odyssey with a paranormal superstructure and an abundance of cheap sound and light effects; thematically half-baked and hardly exciting. "
