Tower of Secrets (Original title: The Deadly Tower ) is an American drama directed by Jerry Jameson from 1975 based on real life. It shows the killing spree of the former Marine Infantryman Charles Whitman , who shot or injured several people on August 1, 1966, from the tower of the University of Texas , before the police killed him.
action
Architecture student and former Marine, Charles Whitman, has been suffering from terrible anxiety and headaches for some time, combined with a sudden urge to turn violent. Treatment by a psychiatrist did not help him. One night Whitman goes on a bloody rampage. First he kills his mother, then his wife returning home from work, buys an arsenal of weapons and uses it to step onto the observation deck of the university tower in Austin, Texas. There he first kills two tourists and then opens fire on passers-by and motorists. The local police are tactically and technically not up to the sniper, and the attempt to hit him from an airplane fails. In the meantime, several residents have taken up arms and are fighting a violent battle with the perpetrator together with the police.
Two policemen and a former soldier finally manage to get to the viewing platform and shoot Whitman.
