The Forsaken is a Swedish death and thrash metal band from Landskrona , which was founded in 1997 under the name Septic Breed .
history
The band was founded in 1997 under the name Septic Breed by singer Pascal Poulsen, the two guitarists Stefan Holm and Alf Patrik Persson, bassist Roine Strandberg and drummer Nicke Grabowski. In 1998 the first demo Patterns of Delusive Design appeared . Anders Sjöholm (ex- Ominous ) helped out as a singer with live performances in the band and joined the band as a permanent member towards the end of 1998. In early 1999 Roine Strandberg left the band and was replaced by Michael Håkansson. This changed the sound of the band a lot, so it was decided to rename themselves The Forsaken. After that the band went to Tommy Tägtgren at Abyss studio to the next demo Reaper record and reached after the publication of a contract with Century Media . With this label the debut album Manifest of Hate was released in January 2001 . The album was recorded again in the Abyss Studio under the direction of Tommy Tägtgren. The cover was designed by Mike Bohatch . A tour with Nile , The Haunted and Carnal Forge followed in February . After the tour, bassist Hakansson left the band to focus on Evergrey .
In December 2001, the band returned to Abyss Studios with producer Tägtgren to record the next album Arts of Desolation . Since no new bass player has yet been found, guitarist Persson also recorded the bass. The album was released in Europe in mid-May 2002 and a short time later in Japan with two bonus songs, including a cover version of Metallica's Creeping Death . Shortly after the release, a tour with Grave and Disinter followed , with Stefan "Junior" Berg being the new bass player. In 2003, the next album, Traces of the Past , was released, the cover of which was designed by Dark Tranquility guitarist Niklas Sundin . In the following years the band lost their contract with Century Media and guitarist Stefan Holm left the band in 2010 and was replaced by Calle Fäldt. Her fourth album Beyond Redemption was released at the end of June 2012 .
style
The band plays a technically demanding, aggressive mix of death and thrash metal, with comparisons made with bands like Pathos and Nevermore .
