John Glines

John Horace Glines (born October 11, 1933 in Santa Maria , California - † August 8, 2018 in Bangkok , Thailand ) was an American screenwriter , author , playwright and theater producer . He became known in 1980 as a screenwriter for the TV series Sesame Street .

Life

Glines studied drama at Yale University and worked as a theater producer in the United States. He worked as a screenwriter for the American television series Captain Kangaroo for seven years and for the television series Sesame Street for four years . In 1976 he founded the organization The Glines with Barry Laine and Jerry Tobin . In 1983 he won a Tony Award and a Drama Desk Award as a theater producer for Torch Song Trilogy . In 1987 he founded the Stamp Out AIDS organization . Glines was married to Chaowarat Chiewvej. Glines died on August 8, 2018 in Bangkok.
