reception

Frank Thiessies the German magazine Metal Hammer described the songwriting Puppy as "anthemic hook -strotzend and on album length completely great," and wondered how "of this operating with absolute power pop perfection debut from the ears gets back." Thiessies called Puppy "lovable music nerds" and gave the album six out of seven points. Reviewer Nadine from the online magazine Burn Your Ears described The Goat as "a very well-made, varied record with many good moments and sometimes outstanding guitar sounds". However, she also criticized the "lack of consistency in sound shaping" and the "not always brilliant songwriting results", for which she awarded seven out of ten points. Andreas Schiffmann from the German magazine Rock Hard, on the other hand, remarked that the trio's music "bobs toothless". The album "seems uncomfortably constructed and at times is really annoying due to its superimposed naivety, as if one should somehow understand the record ironically". Schiffmann awarded 5.5 out of ten points.

The online magazine Loudwire led The Goat on their list of the 50 best rock albums of the year and World Stands Still on the list of best 66 rock songs of the year .
