action

The subject of the film is the urban planning concept of the Danish architect and urban planner Jan Gehl . The focus of the planning is on the human being as a being who wants to satisfy certain needs in the living space and not the vehicle as a means of transport. Gehl's goal is to improve the quality of life for people living in cities. In five chapters, the film looks at different metropolises in the world in which attempts are made to implement these concepts. New York City , Dhaka , Melbourne and Christchurch , among others , are considered.

Reviews

"A stimulating, far-reaching, sketchy film that discovers the 'human dimension' both real and metaphorical at walking pace."

- Josef Lederle : film service , 24/2013
