Manuel Alberto Claro

Manuel Alberto Claro (born April 3, 1970 in Santiago de Chile , Chile ) is a Chilean - Danish cameraman .

Life

His parents fled to Denmark with Manuel Alberto Claro in 1974 after Augusto Pinochet took power in the country through a military coup. He graduated from the Istituto Europeo di Design in Milan as a photographer and worked for several years as a photo assistant around the world before studying at Den Danske Filmskole in Copenhagen from 1997 to 2001 . It was there that he met the Danish director Christoffer Boe , with whom he made his debut feature film Reconstruction .

Most recently he worked for the internationally known Danish director Lars von Trier in the film Melancholia , with which Claro admitted that a “secret dream” had come true. For this work he was awarded the European Film Prize for Best Camera .
