The Mission (in the USA : Mission UK ) is a British rock band .
Band history
The Mission was founded by Wayne Hussey and Craig Adams , former members of The Sisters of Mercy , who they left after an argument with singer Andrew Eldritch . First they toured under the name The Sisterhood . However, this name was claimed by Eldritch, whereupon they called themselves 'The Mission' and quickly managed to build on the success of The Sisters of Mercy with the following records.
After a few line-up changes, the band's success declined in the 1990s. The collaboration no longer worked and record sales declined. In 1996 The Mission was dissolved for the time being due to unsuccessfulness.
In 1999 the band reunited and embarked on a world tour, with concerts in Brazil , Argentina , Chile , Mexico , USA , South Africa and Greece (2000).
The band released one of their most successful albums in 2001: Aura . It stayed at number one in the German alternative charts for eight weeks . Aural Delight followed a short time later in 2002 ; on this album was, among other things, a cover version of the song Never Let Me Down Again by Depeche Mode . The Mission toured Germany , then in 2002 for six weeks through Europe , then South America , later Europe again. After this tour, the group took a break in 2003. In 2005, for the band's 20th anniversary, the DVD box Lighting The Candles was released, which contained a new song ( Breathe Me In ) and was again the reason for a tour.
In April 2007 a new album was released with God Is A Bullet . It contains the singles Keep It In The Family and Blush . In October 2007 Wayne Hussey announced the end of the band again. After a farewell tour through Europe in February 2008, he wanted to devote himself to other projects. Hussey's first solo album, “Bare”, was released just in time for the Farewell Tour . It was initially only sold at the concerts and via the band's website and has only been available in stores since October 23, 2009. In addition to new recordings of The Mission pieces in the sound of Wayne Hussey's solo acoustic shows, there are also cover versions of The Cure and U2 , among others .
The Mission has been active again since 2011 with founding members Wayne Hussey, Craig Adams and Simon Hinkler. On September 20, 2013, the studio album The Brightest Light was released. The tenth studio album Another Fall from Grace followed in September 2016 and is the biggest commercial success since Masque in 1992.
