Under the title The Next Song for Eurovision , the Israeli song was selected for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ) on March 3, 2020 . The interpreter of the song Eden Alene was selected in advance via the HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion 2020 program on February 4, 2020. The program was moderated by Lucy Ayoub , who has already moderated the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 together with Assi Azar , Bar Refaeli and Erez Tal .
In the end, the song Feker Libi , composed by Doron Medalie and Idan Raichel and sung in five different languages, won. With the song, Eden Alene will now represent Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam.
concept
format
It was already known in advance that KAN would again select its interpreter for the Eurovision Song Contest via the HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion program. After criticizing the 2019 song selection, KAN announced that the Israeli contribution or the song would again be determined via a national preliminary decision. From 2015 to 2019 KAN always used the program HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion to determine the performer. With the exception of 2016, all contributions during this period were selected internally. Only in 2016 was the song for the Eurovision Song Contest determined via HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion .
On January 12, 2020, KAN announced the details of the program The Next Song for Eurovision . The winning interpreter of the program HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion 2020 should present four contributions in a live broadcast on March 3, 2020. The winning title, which the interpreter will then sing in Rotterdam, should then be determined in a voting round of 65% by a professional selection committee, 30% by televoting and 5% by a jury.
Choice of contribution
A call for submissions was held in January 2020. Composers registered with ACUM could submit contributions until February 11, 2020.
On February 13, 2020, KAN published the titles of the four songs including their composers.
final
The broadcast took place on March 3, 2020. A total of four contributions were presented there by Eden Alene before the song Feker libi won in the end.
