The 7th edition of the casting show HaKokhav HaBa L'Eurovizion (German: The next star for the Eurovision Song Contest) took place from November 20, 2019 to February 4, 2020. The show only served to determine the participants for the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam ( Netherlands ). The show was moderated by Assi Azar and Rotem Sela.
The winner was the singer Eden Alene . Your later song for the Song Contest is to be determined via the program The Next Song for Eurovision 2020 on March 3, 2020.
format
concept
The competition consisted of several programs that were broadcast from November 20, 2019.
In the first round of the broadcast (the auditions ), all participants stood in front of an interactive wall and sang a cover of a song. To get to the next round, they had to get at least 70% of the votes. The jury was able to contribute 10% each, if they liked the participant. The hosts of the show could also send a participant to the next round if he did not reach 70%.
The intermediate round followed after the first round . All participants who had already survived the auditions performed again there. Each juror then had 20% voting rights, while the audience couldn't vote here. In the end, five performers per broadcast were allowed to advance to the next round. So 20 participants reached the next round, all others were eliminated.
In the third round, the top 20 round, all 20 participants sang against each other in ten duels. The interpreter with the most votes per duel reached the next round. Here again the voting system from the first round counted, where each jury member could contribute 10% if they liked the participant. Otherwise, the audience voted again here. In the end, the moderator selected two more participants from the ten losers who nevertheless made it through to the next round. A total of 12 participants reached the next round.
In the fourth round, the heats , the 12 participants were reduced to eight. There were duels between two participants, each of which had to fulfill mottos.
The fifth round then comprised two semi-finals. The four finalists were determined in each of the semifinals.
In the final, 50% of the winner was determined by televoting and 50% by jury voting.

The jury consisted of the following people:
- Assaf Amdursky
- Static & Ben El Tavori
- Shiri Maimon (represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005 )
- Keren Peles
- Itay Levi
