The Phone Call is a 2013 British short film directed by Mat Kirkby . The film won the Academy Award for Best Short Film at the 87th Academy Awards in 2015 .
The film is about Heather (Sally Hawkins), a telephone counselor who tries to stop a troubled caller, Stanley (Jim Broadbent), from committing suicide after his wife dies.
