The Rapture is an American rock band that combines elements from genres such as dance , post-punk and acid house . The band from New York City was formed in 1998, quietly broke up in March 2014 and reformed in February 2019.

The band became popular with the singles House of Jealous Lovers and Sister Savior from their first album Echoes , which like soundly related bands like !!! , Radio 4 or Out Hud was produced by The DFA . In 2004 The Rapture played on the main stage of the Curiosa Festival, which toured North America . In 2006 her second album Pieces of the People We Love was released on Vertigo Records and Universal Music .

They also contributed the theme song to Misfits with Echoes .
