Allmusic's Stephen Thomas Erlewine commented on the album that Willis had "more singing talent than Cybill Shepherd , but not the conviction and ability of the Blues Brothers " . It is "often difficult to listen to how he struggles to find the notes on well-known pieces like› Under the Boardwalk ‹,› Respect Yourself ‹and› Young Blood ‹," but "the same limited talent" makes those tailored to Willis Titles Jackpot, Down in Hollywood and Flirting with Disaster “too kitsch” . He concludes with the remark, "Willis may actually be convinced of his singing abilities" , but the album is "nothing more than a testimony to the excesses of the Reagan-era celebrity" .
