The Shouting End of Life is a music album by the British folk rock band Oysterband that was released in 1995. It reached number 96 in the UK charts, making it the only album by the band to make it into the top 100 until Ragged Kingdom was released in 2011.
backgrounds
The Shouting End of Life is considered the Oyster band's toughest album, although it can still be clearly assigned to folk rock. In addition, the band takes a very clear position on political issues on this album, such as B. the consequences of Thatcherism .
Richard Dansky describes The Shouting End of Life as "angry, aggressive and, most of all, loud" and Alex Henderson of the Allmusicguide says that many songs are based on punk as well as on Celtic music (this time more than British folk) and remind of the vitality of the best work of the Pogues .
Although Long Dark Street was selected as the first single release, other songs on the album are much more popular, especially the second single Everywhere I Go , the title track, Blood-Red Roses and By Northern Light , all of which are integral parts of an Oyster band concert, and Put Out the Lights , which usually marks the end of a concert.
The last three songs were re-recorded in 2008 in acoustic versions for the album The Oxford Girl And Other Stories for the band's 30th anniversary.
