The Sound of Girls Aloud - The Greatest Hits (also: The Sound Of Girls Aloud: The Greatest Hits ) is the first greatest hits - album of the British girl group Girls Aloud . The album was released in Great Britain on October 30, 2006 and went straight to number 1 in the UK album charts. This is the first Girls Aloud album to reach number 1 in the charts. The album sold 84,354 times in the first week.

Since it was first launched, it has sold over 1,150,000 units in the UK and has gone three times platinum . It is officially the band's best-selling album.

The CD contains all of Girls Aloud's previous singles and the three new tracks Something Kinda Ooooh , I Think We're Alone Now , a cover of the song by Tommy James & the Shondells , and Money . Furthermore, a limited bonus disc edition with unreleased songs was released. This contains alternative versions of the singles No Good Advice and Wake Me Up . The bonus CD also contains the song Sacred Trust , which was originally recorded by the men's band One True Voice , which was also founded by Popstars: The Rivals . Also included is a live cover of the song I Predict a Riot by the British band Kaiser Chiefs , which was sung by the band at a concert in London's Wembley Arena. Originally, the bonus CD should also contain a cover of the song Wicked Game by Chris Isaak and a demo version of Love Machine , which was ultimately discarded.

The first single from the album was Something Kinda Ooooh and was released on October 23, 2006. The song reached number 3 on the UK singles chart. This makes it one of the band's best-selling and best-placed singles. The song was also placed at number 36 of the best-selling singles of 2006. B-sides were the songs The Crazy Life and Models , which was also included on the previous album Chemistry . The song was part of the soundtrack for the film Run, Fatboy, Run .

The second and final single released is I Think We're Alone Now , which was released on December 18, 2006. Although the song sold well, it landed at number 4 on the UK singles chart. The song was part of the soundtrack for the film It's a Boy Girl Thing . B-sides were the songs Why Do It and a cover of the Christmas carol Jingle Bell Rock , which was also included on a special edition of the previous album Chemistry .
