Theo Braun (born December 24, 1922 in Karbitz , Czechoslovakia , † December 1, 2006 in Brunn am Gebirge ) was an Austrian painter and graphic artist .

Life

Theo Braun studied from 1939 to 1941 at the Applied Arts Academy in Dresden and from 1946 to 1950 at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna . Between 1949 and 1967 Braun was initially an assistant and then a lecturer at the Technical University of Vienna (today: TU Wien ). He lived in Brunn am Gebirge until the end. In 1959, Theo Braun participated in documenta 2 in Kassel in the graphics department and in the Sao Paulo Biennale. In 1976 he was awarded the Lower Austrian Culture Prize for Fine Arts.

Braun painted both abstract and representational pictures and also dealt with the possibilities of iron etching . According to his family, he had over 80 solo exhibitions and was involved in 120 exhibitions on every continent .
