Theo Ignaz Graffé
Theo Ignaz Graffé (* 1930 in Münster-Sarmsheim ; † March 19, 1996 in Mainz ) was a German sculptor , stonemason , restorer and teacher.
Life
Graffé studied sculpture in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1950 to 1953 and from 1955 to 1956 . In 1954 he completed an apprenticeship as a stonemason and sculptor. In 1957 he attended the Werkkunstschule in Mainz and received a master craftsman's certificate as a stone sculptor a few years later. He worked as a freelance sculptor until 1972, before teaching at the FHS Mainz for nine years in 1973 . He was married to the goldsmith and silversmith Karin Graffé, with whom he sometimes worked together in the manufacture of altars and bronze doors for sacred buildings.
