Theobald Schorn (* 1866 in Munich ; † 1913 in Rostock ) was a German landscape painter .

Life

There are currently hardly any publications about Theobald Schorn's life. The son of a goldsmith came to the Munich Art Academy in 1882 at the age of 15 as one of the youngest students . After long study trips to the Orient around 1890, these trips were reflected in his pictures. He became an oriental painter ; in the relevant encyclopedias around the turn of the century he was referred to as a "painter of oriental genres".

In the 1890s Schorn came from Munich to Ahrenshoop on the Baltic Sea and now became a landscape painter. In 1897 Theobald Schorn became a member of the Ahrenshooper municipal council, in 1908/1909 he had his house and studio built in Strandweg 2, which has not changed to this day. He and Paul Müller-Kaempff designed the Ahrenshooper Kunstkaten as an exhibition center for local artists, which opened in 1909.

In 1912 Theobald Schorn was seriously ill and mentally shattered and brought to the Rostock-Gehlsdorf mental hospital, where he died the following year.
