Theodor Brocker

Theodor Bröcker (born May 21, 1938 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † September 4, 2014 ) was a German mathematician .

Bröcker studied physics, mathematics, philosophy and economics at the universities of Kiel , Zurich , Tübingen and Heidelberg . In 1965 he received his doctorate in mathematics from Horst Schubert at the University of Kiel and was then an assistant in Heidelberg until 1970. In 1971 he completed his habilitation at the University of Regensburg , where he was then professor. Bröcker was mainly concerned with differential topology . His textbook with Klaus Jänich about it is a standard work.

Peter Slodowy is one of his doctoral students .
