Theodor Ganzenmüller

Theodor Ganzenmüller (* 9. November 1864 in Augsburg ; † 27. December 1937 ) was a German mechanical engineering - engineering and university teachers . He specialized in brewery technology early on and revolutionized brewing with the introduction of the steam engine at the turn of the 20th century. He replaced the direct firing of the brewing kettle with steam firing, which earned him the nickname of steam theo .

Life

Ganzenmüller studied from 1883 to 1887 at the mechanical engineering department of the Technical University of Munich . After graduating, he initially worked as a mechanical engineer for the locomotive factory Krauss & Comp. ( Krauss-Maffei ) and for the company for Lindes Eismaschinen AG .

On November 1, 1894, he was appointed professor at the Royal Bavarian Academy for Agriculture and Brewing in Weihenstephan (later the Weihenstephan Science Center for Nutrition, Land Use and Environment of the Technical University of Munich ), and from 1904 he also served as director of the academy.

On December 23, 1936, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Freising . A street north-west of the city center was named after him .

There is a street named after him in Munich-Untermenzing.

Services

His appointment as professor in 1894 marks the birth of numerous chairs in Weihenstephan. Among other things, today's chairs for energy and environmental technology in the food industry as well as for food packaging technology go back to him. He was one of the most important university lecturers at the Academy for Agriculture and Brewing in Weihenstephan.

The brewery with administration building in Stein an der Traun , a three-wing system, was built according to his design and is entered in the list of monuments for the city of Traunreut .
