Theodor Heinrich Schiebler

Theodor Heinrich Schiebler (born February 3, 1923 in Berlin ) is a retired German anatomist .

Life

Schiebler is the son of Theodor Schiebler and his wife Hedwig Schiebler, b. Bombach. He passed his Abitur in 1940 and then took part in the Second World War as a Wehrmacht soldier . As a result of an injury he was able to start studying medicine at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg in 1942 , and in 1944 he passed the preliminary medical examination . After participating in the war again and briefly as a prisoner of war, he continued his studies from 1945 at the Georg-August-Universität Göttingen and graduated in 1948.

He received his doctorate in 1948 on the subject of karyoarchitectonics of the nucleus supraopticus and the nucleus tuberis lateralis in the human hypothalamus. in Göttingen. After a short internship in anatomy in Göttingen, Schiebler moved to the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel in 1949 , where he worked as a research assistant at the anatomical institute. From October 1950 to September 1951 he conducted research at the Karolinska Institute as part of a Rockefeller Fellowship . The habilitation ( histological, histochemical and electron microscopic examinations of the atrioventricular system of hoofed animals and rodents ) took place in Kiel in 1955. In 1962 he was appointed adjunct professor of anatomy in Kiel, and in 1962 associate professor. The following year, 1963, Schiebler accepted a position at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg . In 1966 he was appointed full professor here. 1970/1972 he was dean of the medical faculty. He retired in 1990 .

Schiebler is married and has five children.
