Theodor (Ludwig Clemens) Krohne (born October 4, 1846 in Dankelshausen , † 1925 in Königsberg i. Pr. ) Was a German businessman and local politician .

Life

After completing his business apprenticeship, he took part in the Franco-German War . He married Anna W. Schimmeyer and took over the Schimmeyer, yarn and haberdashery company . As early as 1878 he was a city ​​councilor , in 1889 a city ​​councilor and from 1898 to 1913 city ​​councilor . He took care of the incorporation , the softening , the construction of the town hall (Königsberg) and the Königsberg commercial college and the clearing and riverside paths of the Königsberg castle pond . He received the city ​​theater , promoted swimming lessons in schools and saved the Juditter city forest , which was named after him. When Lord Mayor Hermann Theodor Hoffmann died in 1902, Krohne could have been his successor. He renounced. When the German Association of Cities met in Königsberg in 1908, the city granted it honorary citizenship . The great hall in the town hall bore his name. The Crown Prussia honored Krohne, which is very rare for merchants, with the character of a Privy Councilor .
