Theodor Petrina (born May 11, 1842 in Linz , Upper Austria ; † March 7, 1928 in Prague ) was an Austrian internist.

Life

Petrina was the son of the physicist Franz Adam Petrina (1799–1855). From 1861 he studied at the Charles University in Prague . There he became a member of Corps Austria , of which he became an honorary member in 1911. In 1865 he received his doctorate as an internist and in 1867 as a surgeon . He worked at the General Hospital in Prague and completed his habilitation in internal medicine in 1872 . He was an assistant at the II. Medical Clinic with Anton von Jaksch (Anton Jaksch Ritter von Wartenhorst; 1810–1887), whose daughter he married. In 1882 he was appointed titular professor at Karl Ferdinand University . In addition, he worked from 1901 to 1912 as a primary physician in the Prague commercial hospital. Petrina made significant contributions to the organization of the medical profession in the Kingdom of Bohemia . From 1895 to 1922 he was President of the German Section of the Chamber of Physicians for Bohemia, an honorary member of the Central Association of German Doctors in Bohemia and the Association of German Doctors in Prague. His scientific publications include extensive clinical work on localization in the cerebral cortex , in particular on the sensory cortical fields , on carcinomas of the peritoneum and neuroses .
