Alfred Přibram
Alfred Přibram (born May 11, 1841 in Prague ; † April 14, 1912 there ) was a Bohemian internist . He is a member of the Přibram medical family .
Life
As the son of the respected doctor Dr. Emanuel Přibram was interested in medicine at a very early age, and when he was 15, Alfred Přibram attended medical lectures at Charles University in Prague . In Prague he became a member of the Corps Austria in 1862 . In 1861 he received his doctorate as a general practitioner and in 1862 as a surgeon. Přibram then worked as a secondary doctor at the General Hospital in Prague and also dealt with medical-chemical and microscopic studies. From 1867 to 1871 he was an assistant at Anton von Jaksch's 2nd Medical Clinic . Habilitated private lecturer in pathology since 1871 , he was appointed associate professor at the University of Prague in 1873 . From 1877 to 1881 he was the director of the medical polyclinic . In 1881 he was appointed full professor of special pathology and therapy and head of the newly established III. Medical Clinic, later the II. Medical Clinic of the (German) Karl Ferdinand University . In 1884 he succeeded Joseph Halla as director of the 1st German Medical Clinic. In 1897 he was appointed councilor . Later he was Vice President of the State Health Council.
Přibram's publications were a. a. the rheumatism , typhoid fever and relapsing fever . He was considered an excellent teacher and clinician who was particularly interested in therapy. He trained numerous important internists, including Eduard Bloch .
He was the father of the internist Hugo Přibram and brother of the chemist Richard Pribram .
