Theodor Petsch
Theodor Victor Leo Petsch (born June 27, 1884 in Berlin , † June 22, 1973 in Lindau - Schachau ) was a German infantry general .
He entered on September 12, 1903 as Fahnenjunker 5th West Prussian Infantry Regiment No. 148 . Here he began a rapid career: by the end of the First World War, he had risen to become captain and was accepted into the Reichswehr. At the beginning of the Second World War he held the rank of colonel and led the 353 infantry regiment as commander of the western campaign . On May 3, 1941, he became commander of the 710th Infantry Division . From 1941 to 1944 he was stationed with this unit in Norway , then he came to Kassel . On March 1, 1945 he was promoted to general of the infantry . From December 9, 1944 to March 1945, Petsch was in command of the IX. Army Corps and Military District IX in Kassel. But after only a few months he was transferred to the so-called Führerreserve in March 1945 . In May 1945 he was taken prisoner by the United States , from which he was not released until 1947.
