Schachau is a village and a cadastral municipality in the municipality of Oberndorf an der Melk in the Scheibbs district in Lower Austria .

Settlement development

At the turn of the year 1979/1980 there was a total of 185 building areas with 60,085 m² and 64 gardens on 155,358 m² in the cadastral community of Schachau, in 1989/1990 there were 181 building areas. In 1999/2000 the number of building areas had grown to 182 and in 2009/2010 there were 215 buildings on 277 building areas.

Land use

The cadastral community is characterized by agriculture. 753 hectares were used for agriculture at the turn of 1979/1980 and 111 hectares were forest areas. In 1999/2000 agriculture was carried out on 766 hectares and 110 hectares were designated as areas used for forestry. At the end of 2018, 727 hectares were used as agricultural land and forestry was carried out on 119 hectares. The average soil climate in Schachau is 44.6 (as of 2010).
