The village of Lehen is located in the east of the municipality of Oberndorf . Your name appears for the first time in 1400 when the farm Fief 1 was divided into two farms. Until the end of 1970, Lehen was a separate municipality (under the name Lehen bei Oberndorf ), on January 1st, 1971 it was incorporated into the municipality of Oberndorf.
In today's Rotte Lehen, not far from Hof Lehen 6, there was Schönleiten Castle, which was first mentioned in 1160. On June 21, 1433, the then owner, Conrad von Wildungsmauer, sold the Schönleiten Fortress and the associated courtyards to the St. Jacob monastery in Vienna, which resulted in the abandonment of the seat. Remnants of the wall were visible until 1934. The hill on which the castle stood was removed in 1973. Today only the cellar of the castle at Lehen 5 remains.
The Ganzbach Bridge in Rotte Holzwies, which was built at the beginning of the 20th century, should also be mentioned. The second Viennese spring water pipeline flows through it .
