Theodor Schapp

Theodor Adalbert Schapp (born January 22, 1877 in Timmel ; † October 30, 1959 in Sonnenborstel near Nienburg / Weser ) was a German electrical engineer , entrepreneur and manager .

Life

After graduating from high school in Leer (East Friesland) , Theodor Schapp studied electrical engineering at the Technical University (Berlin-) Charlottenburg and became a member of the Corps Berolina Berlin. After graduating, he did his military service as a one-year volunteer with the Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 3 "Queen Elisabeth" . He then took on engineering positions in Düsseldorf , Cologne and Milan . In 1906 he went to Essen , where he founded the Essen Electricity GmbH together with Wilhelm Thyssen , in which he worked until it was dissolved in 1923. He took part in the First World War as a reserve officer and received the Iron Cross II and I Class and the Hanseatic Cross as awards . In 1924 Schapp was appointed to the board of the Preßwerk AG in Essen-Bergeborbeck. At that time, Presswerk AG was a leading company in the manufacture of rubber-free insulating materials.

Theodor Schapp is a brother of Wilhelm Schapp and uncle of Jan Schapp .
