Theodor Schweisfurth

Theodor Schweisfurth (born January 13, 1937 in Cottbus ) is a German emeritus for public law and international law .

Life

Schweisfurth studied law at the Philipps University of Marburg , the Eberhard Karls University of Tübingen , where he became a member of the Corps Borussia Tübingen in 1957 , and Bonn . In 1968 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . Schweisfurth then worked at the Federal Institute for Eastern and International Studies in Cologne and in 1969/70 personal advisor to the Federal Minister for Internal German Relations. From 1973 to 1993 he worked at the Max Planck Institute for Comparative Public Law and International Law in Heidelberg , where in 1978 he discussed “Socialist International Law? Presentation, analysis, rating Soviet Marxist theory of international law, the new type ' " habilitated . 1985 associate professor; 1986 lecturer at the University of Zurich and 1989 at the University of Heidelberg. In 1993 he was appointed professor for public law, foreign constitutional law and constitutional comparison as well as international law at the European University Viadrina . Until his retirement he fought resolutely and in vain for a reassessment of the Soviet expropriations after the Second World War in the Soviet occupation zone . He also criticized the parliamentary, public and legal discussion about land reform in the GDR and the way the CDU had dealt with this problem after German reunification .

Schweisfurth was the author of the national revolutionary magazine We Ourselves . Together with Herbert Ammon and Peter Brandt he worked and published, for example, on the “ German question ”.

He saw no justification for the Iraq war that the USA and the coalition of the willing began in spring 2003 . As an emeritus he lives in Berlin .
