Theodor Stemper

Theodor Stemper (born September 19, 1955 ) is a German sports scientist and university lecturer .

Life

Stemper went to school in Warstein in the Sauerland and passed the Abitur in 1974 at the local municipal modern high school . He studied sports science at the German Sport University Cologne and English for teaching at the University of Paderborn and the University of Cologne . After graduating as a certified sports teacher in 1979, Stemper was awarded the August beer plaque for the best exam of the year . In 1982 and 1985 he passed the first and second state exams, respectively. From 1980 to 1982 he was a research assistant at the sports university. Between 1982 and 1988 he held a teaching position at the local institute for cardiovascular research and sports medicine.

His doctoral thesis with the title “Effects of device-based fitness training. Motor skills, physiology, anthropometry. Change in anthropometric, motor and physiological parameters through training on fitness equipment ”was accepted in 1994 at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . In addition to his work at the sports university, from 1985 Stemper also worked as a research assistant at the Institute for Sports Science at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. He also completed his habilitation in sports science at the University of Düsseldorf in June 2001. He then worked as a private lecturer at the university.

In 2009 Stemper was appointed associate professor (work area fitness and health) at the Institute for Sport Science at the Bergische Universität Wuppertal . Since 2009 he has also been the training director of the German Fitness and Aerobics Association and, since 2014, deputy chairman of the Federal Association of Health Studios Germany.

Stemper's main areas of work include fitness, exercise opportunities at school, obesity, motor test procedures, age sports, stretching, marathon training, diabetes and sports, and children's swimming ability.
