Theodor Vetter 1979

Theodor Vetter , known as "Tattoo Theo" (* 1932 in Hamburg ; † July 15, 2004 there ; nickname : Tattoo-Theo ), was a German tattoo artist . “As a figurehead of the old art of tattooing, Theo became a trademark of St. Pauli and for the tattoo scene in general”.

Life

Theodor Vetter only worked occasionally as a tattoo artist. He saw himself more as a living work of art and a self-promoter. At the age of 13, Vetter performed his first tattoo on himself. Three years later he had Christian Warlich make his first professional tattoo. In the following years there were around 260 tattoos by around 240 different tattooists. Vetter played a supporting role in the 1970 film The Yellow House on Pinnasberg . In 1975 he organized what was probably the first tattoo meeting on German soil in his local pub "Tante Lenchen" in Hamburg. Vetter was a founding member of the first German tattoo association, which Manfred Kohrs founded in Hanover in 1977 . In the following years he appeared in various television programs, for example on May 26, 1991 in the program Schmidtanders as well as with Hans Meiser and Jürgen Fliege .
