Theodor Andreas Gotthard Alexander von Richter (born August 15, 1852 in Riga ; † August 13, 1925 in Jena ) was a German-Baltic state politician in Livonia and was elevated to the Russian baron status in 1912 . Until 1908 he was the owner of Gut Alt-Drostenhof in Livonia.

Life

Von Richter attended the Vitzthum grammar school in Dresden until 1864 and then moved to the Krümmerschen institutes at Werro , which he left in 1870. In 1871 he began the study of law at the University of Tartu and continued his studies in 1876 in Berlin continued. In 1878 he took over the position of assessor at the regional court in Riga. From 1881 to 1887 he was an assessor at the Livonian court in Riga, where he became a judge in 1888. In 1890 he became cash deputy and in 1891 he became a member of the school board at the Landesgymnasium Birkenruh . In 1893 he was elected district deputy and kept this until 1896. From 1891 to 1898 he was honorary assessor of the Wenden-Walkschen Oberkirchenvorsteheramt. From 1896 to 1899 he was senior director of the Livonian aristocratic goods credit society and was elected the Livonian district administrator in 1889. In the Livonian Knighthood he was from 1898 President of the Scholarship Commission and from 1899 Knighthood Secretary.

In 1905 he was elected secretary of the Baltic Constitutional Party and from 1908 to 1915 he was a delegate of the Livonian Knighthood on the Board of Directors of the Political Technical College in Riga . Other offices were director of the Rigaschen credit company (1909-1920), executive assessor of the Riga-Wolmarschen noble orphanage courts. From 1921 he spent his old age in Jena.

Origin and family

Theodor von Richter came from the German-Baltic noble family von Richter . His father Alexander von Richter (1802–1864), who was married to Martha Freiin von Budberg (1759–1809). Theodor married Helene Loewen (* 1864) in 1889, their descendants were:
