Theodor von Scheve (born June 11, 1851 in Cosel , Upper Silesia , † April 19, 1922 in Patschkau , Upper Silesia) was a German chess master .
Life
Von Scheve, who found chess quite late in life, "gave the chess world perhaps the only spectacle of how a good player develops into a real master at a mature age," according to Tarrasch . He took part in many international tournaments from 1887 to 1911 with remarkable success . Among other things, he came fourth in Leipzig in 1888 and third in Monte Carlo in 1901.
Von Scheve published a remarkable essay on chess-philosophical thoughts: The Spirit of the Chess Game , Berlin 1919.
