Theophil Magdzinski

Theophil Magdzinski ( Polish Teofil Magdziński ) (born October 13, 1818 in Samter , † February 4, 1889 in Bromberg ) was a leading politician of the Polish minority in Prussia and the German Empire .

Life

He attended high school in Poznan and then studied law and political science in Breslau , Berlin and Leipzig . He then entered the Prussian judicial service as a trainee lawyer. In 1846 he was involved in the Polish uprising . After retiring from civil service, he made extensive trips to France , Austria , Switzerland and other countries until 1849 . After that he was a landowner for a long time. He lived in the (Russian) kingdom of Poland for a long time before he was retired in Bromberg from 1865 .

He belonged to numerous scientific and other associations. Magdzinski was also a member of the board of directors of the Bromberger Gewerbebank. He was one of the leaders of the Polish national movement in Bromberg.

He was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1872 to 1889. He was a member of the Reichstag from 1877 to 1889 , at times as chairman of the Polish parliamentary group .
