Theresa Hannig
Theresa Hannig (born June 21, 1984 in Munich ) is a German writer .
Life
Theresa Hannig grew up in Kottgeisering and Fürstenfeldbruck . After graduating from high school, she studied political science (with minor subjects in philosophy and economics ) at the University of Munich . According to her own statements, she then worked as a software developer , as a SAP consultant , in the project management of solar systems and finally, part-time from home as a lighting designer .
In 2016 she won the Stefan Lübbe Prize for her science fiction novel Die Optimierer . As a result, she received a contract from the Bastei Lübbe publishing house and thus achieved her first publication, which in 2018 was also awarded the Seraph Fantastic Literature Prize for the best debut. With the dystopian novel, Hannig wants to show the social consequences it can have when more and more data is collected about people.
Hannig is a member of the Fantastik authors network and was involved at times in the pirate party . In April 2019 she started an online petition on a private campaign platform with the aim of creating more "gender equality" in Wikipedia. In doing so, they and others stated that they wanted to abolish what they believed to be the obligation to use a generic masculine word in articles and that women and non- binary people could be searched and found. She criticizes the result of a discussion on this topic that took place on the Wikipedia platform.
Theresa Hannig is married and lives in Fürstenfeldbruck with her husband and two children.
