Therese Dessoir

Therese Dessoir , née Therese Reimann , (born July 12, 1810 in Hanover , † April 7, 1866 in Mannheim ) was a German theater actress .

Life

Reimann was a daughter of the Oberfeld pharmacist Conrad Reimann. She came to the royal court theater in her hometown as a child . In 1827 she was able to successfully debut in the leading role of August von Kotzebue's play "The Little Gypsy".

The director of this theater, Franz Ignaz von Holbein, supported and kept them under contract in Hanover until 1832. In the summer of the same year, Reimann moved to the Saxon court theater in Leipzig . There she met the actor Ludwig Dessoir and married him there in 1835. With him she had a son, Ferdinand . This marriage was very unhappy and the two divorced in 1836.

After a brief engagement in Breslau (still with her husband) Reimann returned to Leipzig at the end of 1836. In 1845 she moved to the court theater in Mannheim . there she stayed until the end of her life. She died on April 7, 1866 at the age of almost 56 and was last resting there.
