Theresienklause

The Theresienklause is a hermitage on the Untersberg in the Almbachklamm . It is located in the southern part of the community-free area Schellenberger Forst in the Berchtesgadener Land district .

The hermitage and the Triftrechen on the lower reaches of the Almbach are under monument protection and are registered in the Bavarian monument list under the number D-1-72-454-1 .

Building description

The Theresienklause consists of the Trift system with a footbridge and the Trift grate. As a building material, stone was used.

history

The first hermitage in the Almbachklamm already existed around 1690 and was used to supply firewood for the salt pans in Berchtesgaden and Schellenberg . From the mouth of the Almbach the wood had to be brought into the salt pans in horse-drawn vehicles. A geographical hour was given as the time .

The current hermitage was built in the 1830s and later rebuilt and expanded. The year numbers 1831, 1843 and 1883 can be found as inscriptions. The Triftrechen is marked with the years 1831 and 1843. The hermitage is named after Therese von Sachsen-Hildburghausen , the wife of the then King of Bavaria Ludwig I.

The wood drift ended in 1964.

location

The Theresienklause is located on the upper reaches of the Almbach in the Almbachklamm on the Untersberg at an altitude of 722  m above sea level. NHN , the trift rake on the lower reaches of the Almbach near the ball mill at an altitude of 498  m above sea level. NHN .
