Mahasim is an Ap star in the constellation Fuhrmann, about 170  light years away, with an apparent magnitude of around 2.7 mag. A companion star of the spectral class F2-5 V with an apparent magnitude of 7.2 mag is located at a distance of just under 4  arc seconds .

The star also bears the historical proper name Bogardus and - in traditional Chinese astronomy - 五 車 四.
