Thile II. Wolff von Gudenberg
Thile II. Wolff von Gudenberg zu Itter , also Thilo († around 1480), mentioned 1439–1480, was a Hessian nobleman , lien holder of the Itter rule on the middle Eder in Northern Hesse , and landgrave-Hessian bailiff of Zierenberg .
origin
He came from the knightly family of Wolff von Gudenberg and was a grandson of Thile I. Wolff von Gudenberg († 1404/06), to whom in 1381 the Mainz - Waldeck and 1383 the Landgrave-Hessian part of the Itter lordship had been pledged . His parents were Wolf I († approx. 1459), first mentioned in 1382, and his wife Margarethe von Dernbach .
Life
Thile followed his grandfather and his father as Herr von Itter, resided at the castle in Vöhl , called himself Herr von Itter from 1476 at the latest, and added the Itter coat of arms to his seal in 1479. From 1465 he was councilor of the Landgrave Ludwig II of Niederhessen and in 1469 he became a bailiff of Zierenberg . In 1465 he was, with Bernhard von Herzenrode and Johann Nuss, one of the three councilors of Landgrave Ludwig, who with three councilors of Landgrave Heinrich III. von Oberhessen , Reinhard von Boyneburg, Eberhard von Wallenstein and Ludwig von Sassen, as an arbitration commission, made a detailed inventory of the entire Landgraviate of Hesse, with detailed information on the country and people, size, accessories, scope and value of the individual parts of the country, offices. Cities, forests etc. The commission could not agree on a mode of division, however, and the dispute between the two landgrave brothers over the division of the paternal inheritance culminated in the Hessian fratricidal war in 1469/70 .
