Thilo Reinhardt

Thilo Reinhardt (born March 30, 1966 in Heidelberg ) is a German opera director .

life and career

Reinhardt first studied medicine at the Università degli Studi di Siena , then music theater directing at the University of Music and Theater Hamburg with Götz Friedrich . He worked as an assistant director at the Darmstadt State Theater with Werner Schroeter, among others, and was personal assistant director to Ruth Berghaus and Achim Freyer at various theaters . Reinhardt has worked as a freelance opera director since 1997 and has staged over 50 productions, including Die Fledermaus at the Leipzig Opera House , Hoffmann's Tales , Pique Dame and Salome at the Komische Oper Berlin , Tosca at the Cologne Opera, La Bohème , The Barber of Seville and Fidelio at the National Theater Weimar , Don Pasquale and Cabaret at the Dortmund Theater, La Cenerentola at the Braunschweig State Theater , The Marriage of Figaro at the Freiburg City Theater , the rise and fall of the city of Mahagonny at the Trier Theater (named "Director of the Year" in the opera world), The Dead City of Erich Wolfgang Korngold at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen as part of RUHR.2010 - European Capital of Culture , Dido and Aeneas at the Kiel Theater. At the Plauen-Zwickau Theater he staged Un ballo in maschera , Joseph Süß by Detlev Glanert and Luisa Miller . At the National Theater Taipei he staged Cavalleria rusticana and Pagliacci , at the Burg Gars Don Carlo opera and at the St. Margarethen Festival Don Giovanni .

He staged Parsifal at the Wuppertal Opera ( Uwe Schweikert spoke of “a radical counter-reading” in the opera world). In the 2006/2007 season he staged Hoffmann's stories at the Komische Oper Berlin. This production was successfully played for 8 years. In 2017 he staged a completely new version of the same opera at the Trier Theater.

Others

Reinhardt had lectureships for scenic classes at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Hamburg and the Liszt University of Music Weimar and was a guest speaker at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna .

Reinhardt is visiting lecturer in the music theater directing course at the Hamburg University of Music and Performing Arts. At the Nuremberg University of Music he directed Tito Manlio by Antonio Vivaldi .

Reinhardt lives and works in Berlin .
