Thimo Fiesel

Thimo Fiesel (born April 24, 1983 in Eberhardzell , Baden-Württemberg , Germany ) is an Austrian politician and General Secretary of the Greens . Until October 2019 he was regional manager of the Tyrolean Greens .

Life

Fiesel's father was an ecologically interested building contractor and a green city councilor.

From 2001 to 2004 he completed an apprenticeship as a wholesale and foreign trade clerk at the Thyssenkrupp Schulte steel group . He then did his community service in a Munich hospital and made up his Abitur on the second educational path . According to his own statement, his love for the mountains led him to study sports, culture and event management at the Kufstein University of Applied Sciences in 2007 . For a guest semester he studied at Al Akhawayn University in the Moroccan winter sports resort Ifrane . In 2010 he completed his bachelor's degree with distinction. He then worked for five years at the Austrian Alpine Club , where he was responsible for communication, coaching and youth work. He is also a climbing trainer.

According to his own statement, Thimo Fiesel ran for the first time for the Greens at the age of 18.

In 2016 he became regional manager of the Tyrolean Greens . In the election campaign for the European elections in Austria 2019 , he was the campaign manager for the federal green party. With limited resources, the Greens - with Werner Kogler and Sarah Wiener at the top - achieved 14.08 percent. Shortly afterwards, he was appointed by top candidate Werner Kogler as campaign manager for the 2019 National Council election in Austria . In the election, the Greens were able to get back into the National Council with the best result in the party's history. In October 2019, Fiesel was appointed Secretary General. In November 2019, he was elected General Secretary of the party's extended federal executive committee. On January 31, 2020, he announced that he would resign as Secretary General of the Greens at the end of April 2020 for private reasons.

Fiesel is married, has three children and currently lives in Kufstein .
