Thirza Bruncken

Thirza Bruncken (born October 4, 1958 in Bonn ) is a German director .

Life

Thirza Bruncken studied German , art history and media studies at the University of Münster from 1978 to 1983 . From 1983 to 1985 she was a freelance journalist. During this time she sat in on an off-theater in the Ruhr area. Her first engagement was between 1986 and 1993 at the Koblenz City Theater , initially as a dramaturge . In doing so, she acquired a room as a studio stage. On this rehearsal stage 2 she directed plays by Elfriede Jelinek , Rainald Goetz , Margret Kreidl and Heiner Müller, among others .

From 1993 to 1996 she was a freelance director at the Schauspiel Köln , where she staged the world premiere of Cham by Michael Roes in 1993 . From 1996 onwards, Bruncken moved to the Schauspielhaus Düsseldorf for three years . Then she worked at different houses with free contracts. Bruncken's staging of the world premiere of Jelinek's political statement against the right Stecken, Stab and Stangl at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus led to an invitation to the Berlin Theatertreffen in 1999 . Her directorial work has taken her to the Münchner Kammerspiele and the Residenztheater there . At Schauspiel Leipzig 2018 she directed live traps of Enis Maci .

More recently, Bruncken has also worked for music theater .
