Enis Maci

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Enis Maci (born 1993 in Gelsenkirchen ) is a German writer (drama, essay).

Life

Maci first studied literary writing at the German Literature Institute in Leipzig. After completing her Bachelor of Arts degree there, she obtained a Master of Science degree in cultural sociology from the London School of Economics in 2017 .

Her volume of essays Eiscafé Europa was published by Suhrkamp Verlag for the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2018 . The review of the Süddeutsche Zeitung praised the high quality, the band was "a wild riff on which all sorts of things are attached: The article discussions on Wikipedia, the language and myths of their Albanian family, the appearances of young identitarian people, their own youth in Gelsenkirchen, remarkably unknown Poet...".

The author had already published two dramas and staged her own works. The play Lebendfallen , created as part of a writing workshop at the Maxim-Gorki-Theater Berlin, had its world premiere on March 9, 2018 at the Schauspiel Leipzig under the direction of Thirza Bruncken . The production was described by several theater critics as an accident, which was not due to the author's text. Her play Mitwisser was awarded the Hans Gratzer Scholarship from the Schauspielhaus Wien and premiered on March 24, 2018 at the Schauspielhaus Wien , directed by Pedro Martins Beja . The play links ancient tragedy with current criminal cases and, unusually, is primarily not interested in the perpetrators and victims, but in their surroundings.

During the 2018/19 season she is the in-house author at the Nationaltheater Mannheim and invites you to the “Steinbruch der Passenschaften” series of events in the studio every two months . Her piece Mitwisser , directed by Nick Hartnagel, has been there since September 2018. It was invited to the Mülheimer Theatertage 2019 .

In 2019, Maci received a grant from the Free State of Bavaria for the International Artists' House Villa Concordia in Bamberg.

The jury's reasoning for the 2019 Text & Language Prize for Literature states that it "demonstrates in a rousing way how you can filter your own aesthetic and political position from the flood of media information and keep it up-to-date and defined with multimedia tools without getting lost".

In April 2020, her play Wunde R could not be premiered at the Münchner Kammerspiele as planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic . With a limitation of the maximum number of spectators and further CoVid protective measures, this commissioned work by the Münchner Kammerspiele celebrated its premiere on June 15, 2020. The theater critics were mostly impressed.

The author previously lived in Leipzig .
