This Beautiful City is a Canadian drama film from also Canadian producer , screenwriter and director Ed Gass-Donnelly . The film was released in 2008, previously premiering in 2007 at the Toronto International Film Festival . The film deals with the lives of five fictitious characters in Downtown in Toronto .

action

Johnny is a cocaine addict who tries to convince his prostitute girlfriend, Pretty, to move to another city to finally start a new life, while Harry and Carol are a fairly wealthy couple. The characters meet, as Carol attempts suicide to commit by jumping from the balcony of her apartment in the alley, a few meters away from Johnny and Pretty. A police officer finds her lying on the floor. And little by little the lives of the two couples begin to intertwine.

The film's soundtrack includes songs by Bry Webb , the Sunparlor Players , Buck 65 , Jewish Legend and Sebastien Grainger , among others .

The film was only released sporadically. This does not include Germany. This Beautiful City was released in Canada on September 11, 2007, in the USA on April 4, 2008, in the Czech Republic on July 9, 2008 and finally in Denmark on April 18, 2009. The DVD premiere took place in Canada on October 21, 2008.

The film review -based website Rotten Tomatoes rated the film with 3.8 / 10 points, more precisely with 17%, the audience gave 2.7 / 5 points, or more precisely 36%.
